IPS has created an Energy Management System (EMS) which allows foundries to schedule
their energy usage and shed power without crippling production.
Energy costs for foundries using induction furnaces is extremely high. Controlling energy
usage to achieve production requirements without being penalized during times of high energy
cost is even more critical now that electric utility de-regulation is a reality. Our EMS will integrate
with your existing system to accomplish a more efficient operation which, in time, will
pay significant dividends as reduced energy costs are realized.
The EMS hardware utilizes a PLC for control and an EMS computer
for scheduling and data collection. The software runs on Windows NT, a robust operating
system suitable for large manufacturing environments.
Throughout our history, machine control has been the "bread and butter" of our expertise
offered to our customers.
Whether the project involves new machine controls or retrofit of an older machine, our achieved
goals are safety, minimum cycle time, flexibility, durability, and quick identification of
and recovery from a fault.
A few examples of the machine controls we have provided:
-
Foundries:
- Core, mold, and lost foam machines
-
Automotive:
- induction heating
- resistance welding
- metal powder press machines
- tire fabrication
- bearing assembly machines
-
Aircraft / Defense:
- heat treating furnace systems
